The University of South Carolina Libraries is seeking an individual with advanced knowledge of library collections to fill the position of Collections Strategy Librarian. This tenure-track librarian position reports directly to the Head of Collection Strategy & Management and plays a key role in the strategic development, management, and assessment of the University Libraries collections. This position will formulate data-driven collection strategies to ensure that library resources effectively support the dynamic needs of our research-intensive community. The Collection Strategy Librarian will work collaboratively with departments throughout University Libraries, as well as with members of the campus community to assess collection strengths, identify gaps, select materials, and manage budgets for materials in all formats.

Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution or foreign equivalent; a combination of another graduate degree and relevant experience will be given equal consideration. Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of research library collection practices. Knowledge of current and emerging models of collection development and scholarly communication. Knowledge of collection assessment practices. Ability to effectively and efficiently evaluate prospective library resources. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Proficiency with software to manage and present data (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.) Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional development. Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of collection development experience in an academic library. Experience with building and maintaining vendor relationships. Experience working with library consortia. Experience managing complex projects. Experience with creating and/or implementing collection development strategies. Experience developing and managing monographic approval plans. Experience implementing evidence-based acquisitions methods. Experience using an integrated library system to access collections data to make informed decisions. Experience with managing a collections budget. Knowledge of COUNTER usage data. Evidence of professional engagement, such as membership in a professional organization, and/or a record of conference presentations or other scholarly output.
