Respectful Conversation: Creating a collection of high-quality, open-access resources
-
Summary
Funded by a 2023 ALA Carnegie-Whitney Grant, the presenters created the Respectful Conversation site (respectfulconversation.charlotte.edu), a curated collection of open-access resources on the interconnected concepts of free expression, constructive dialogue, media literacy, and critical thinking. These topics are highly relevant to citizens in today’s polarized society. The site is designed to provide learning opportunities for K-12 educators, public librarians, community leaders, parents, children, and the general public. The website features authoritative resources including definitions, videos, books & articles, teaching and learning resources, podcasts, blogs, games, and online courses. This session will cover the types of resources on the website and how they can be used to assist students, researchers, and others.
