Presenter Bio
Sabine Jean Dantus is a Reference and Outreach Librarian at Florida International University Libraries in Miami, Florida. She holds a Master of Science in Mass Media and Journalism and a Master of Science in Library Science from Pennsylvania Western University, Clarion. Sabine’s expertise and interests include empathy-based marketing, outreach, user experience, instruction, adult distance education, and library communication. She is set to earn her doctoral degree in Instructional Technology and Distance Education in fall 2024 and is currently finalizing her dissertation, which focuses on improving communication between librarians and first-generation college students across online, hybrid, and in-person learning environments. Sabine is also the author of Empathy by Design: Empathy-Driven Marketing for Libraries, a book that explores an empathic design approach to library marketing. She shares her insights on empathy, marketing, communication, instruction, librarianship, and her doctoral journey on her personal website, empathiclibrarian.com.
