May 20, 2025 — Today, the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) published a resolution honoring the career of Dr. Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress. The resolution notes her impressive contributions to improving public access to the Library’s vast collections and championing lifelong learning and civic engagement. ASERL had the privilege of hosting Dr. Hayden for online events in the past, including a panel discussion with Dr. Hayden and leaders from the National Archives and National Park Service, bringing together the nations’ leading cultural memory organizations.
“Dr. Hayden has led the Library of Congress with unsurpassed wisdom, talent, and grace. It is a honor to be acquainted with her. She made everyone she encountered feel like a colleague and friend — the mark of an amazing leader,” commented ASERL Executive Director John Burger.
