
Happy birthday, ASERL Job Board! October 2024 marks the second anniversary of the launch of ASERL’s Job Board. This service promotes employment opportunities at our member libraries, hoping to recruit great candidates to work with our colleagues and become members of the ASERL community.
- Anyone, anywhere can view / apply for jobs posted to the ASERL Job Board at no cost
- Postings can be sorted by location, full/part-time status, and jobs that offer remote work locations.
- ASERL members can post job offerings at no cost, using a free account on our website. Our only requirement beyond the standard legal requirements: Each job posting must include a numerical indication of the compensation offered — a number, not just “competitive” or “dependent on qualifications” or the like.
- Beyond our member libraries, ASERL will consider adding postings from closely-allied partner organizations on a case-by-case basis.
Since the ASERL Job Board was launched in mid October 2022, nearly 200 posting have been added.
- The largest percentage (20%) of postings have been for library instruction and outreach positions;
- Positions in e-resource management / acquisitions (14%) and area studies (12%) were close behind;
- ASERL members in North Carolina posted most often to the ASERL Job Board (26% of total posts), followed by libraries in Florida (17%) and Georgia (10%). (These are states with numerous ASERL libraries, so the large number of postings from those states seems intuitive.)
