In 2023, ASERL successfully hosted two BIPOC Professional Development Retreats in 2023 at the University of Miami and Georgia Tech. The previous retreats covered topics such as presentation skills, conflict resolution, low morale, and career and professional plan development. These retreats received high attendance and ratings, with several host locations already committed for future events. In 2023, our previous Visiting Program Officer facilitated monthly community calls that were well-received, resulting in 133 people currently registered on the distribution list. Our goal for 2024 is to continue expanding the online programming and distribution list, fostering peer-led conversations, and assisting with organizing the in-person events and retreats on various professional development and higher education topics.
